Medicare is the U.S. federal health insurance program covering hospital stays, doctor visits, and prescription drugs through different "Parts".
Medicare offers two primary coverage paths:
Option 1
Original Medicare Parts A & B
Can be paired with a Medicare Supplement / Medigap and Part D plan
Option 2
Medicare Advantage
(Part C) is an all-in-one option through private insurance companies that replaces Original Medicare and typically includes prescription drug coverage and extra benefits.
If you are turning 65 and still working, your health insurance choices may be different than someone who has already retired. Understanding how employer coverage works with Medicare can help you avoid unnecessary costs and enrollment issues. We are here to guide you through the process.

Medicare Part A helps cover your inpatient care in hospitals, critical access hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities (not custodial or long-term care). It also helps cover hospice care and some home health care. You must meet certain conditions to get these benefits. Most people don't have to pay a monthly premium, for Part A.

Medicare Part B helps cover medical services like doctors' services, outpatient care, and other medical services that Part A doesn't cover. Part B is optional. Part B helps pay for covered medical services and items when they are medically necessary. Most people pay a monthly premium for Part B. The exact premium depends on your income level.

Medicare Advantage plans combine your Medicare Part A and B coverage and often include extra benefits like prescription drugs, vision, or dental. Coverage is usually provided through a network of doctors, and most plans include Part D for medications.

Part D plans help cover prescription medications. They can be purchased separately or are often included with Medicare Advantage plans. Coverage varies by plan and pharmacy.

Medigap plans work with Original Medicare to help cover out-of-pocket costs like deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments. You keep your Original Medicare card and can see any doctor who accepts Medicare. Medigap does not include prescription drug coverage (Part D).
